Photography Overdrive is a throwback synthpop song by my long time friend and creative collaborator René Hélène. The lyric video was built on a tight 5-day schedule and was conceputalized as a way to reflect the 8th notes that drive the song, along with the car related language used throughout the lyrics. I designed a digital gauge cluster inspired by cars such as the Chevrolet Corvette C4, Nissan 300ZX, and Buick Reatta that ran in the background. A compilation of the lyrics and various video clips are projected in front, styled like a CRT screen and designed as a reference to the Hyperballad music video by Björk.

I also shot photography for the single cover for Overdrive. Continuing the automotive theme, René and I shot this in a parking lot on Long Island with my car. Red was a color René had felt very connected with for this song, so I took this color and contrasted it with deep teal-green shadows in order to emphasize René’s nocturnal themeing.
